Our play days are held on Thursdays, April through October, and offer a variety of both team and individual games played on eight great golf courses. These fun competitions allow us to improve our golf skills while adhering to and learning more about the USGA Rules of golf. We also host fun seminars, special tournaments, and social events throughout the season. Players with a maximum handicap of 30.5 are invited to join!
As stated in the By-laws, "The object of the Association is to promote the pleasure of golfing recreation among its members..." The governing body consists of four officers, namely President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer and the Chairpersons of the committees appointed by the President.
Hello Ladies! I’m Diana Beene, your HSV WGA 18-Hole League President for 2025. I have been playing with the HSV WGA 18-Hole league since 2008. I welcome you to our 2025 golf season. It’s an honor to serve as your President. WGA18-Hole is all about playing golf and making friends. We have approximately 150 members with handicaps ranging from 3 to 30.5. Our organization was formed over 50 years ago to offer a platform for a small group of women who wanted to learn more about the game and improve their skills. We strive to encourage and expand everyone’s understanding of the game. We want to provide our members with an opportunity to have fun in a socially involved and informative environment. Our play days are held from April through October on Thursdays. We offer a variety of both team and individual games played on eight Village golf courses. These fun competitions allow us to improve our golf skills while adhering to and learning more about the USGA Rules of Golf. In addition to regular play days, we host tournaments throughout the season, including our Summer Swing Invitational, Crush Cancer, Snow Woman, Club Championship, and Member/Member tournaments. Through these events, we hope to promote the values of golf – honesty, integrity, respect, honor, sportsmanship, and friendship. WGA 18-Hole provides a great way to have fun and make new friends while playing competitive golf. Please don’t be hesitant about joining our league! As a new member, you will be paired with a “Big Sister” who will offer support, guidance, and answers to any questions you might have. If you think your game isn’t good enough, don’t worry because we play using GHIN handicaps, leveling the playing field for golfers of all skill levels. If you enjoy golf, come join us! Our application can be found on this website under the menu option ‘2025 Application.' Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns. Again, I welcome both our returning members and our new members to our 2025 golf season! As we look forward to another season, I encourage each of you to embrace every opportunity our association offers. Let’s continue building a supportive environment, welcoming new members, and striving for excellence in golf. With warm regards and best wishes for the year ahead! In 1972, a few women decided to form their own golf organization in the Village. Fifteen members attended the first meeting and because so few women played 18-holes, the first play day was only nine holes. As the membership grew play changed to 18-holes. A Rules Committee was formed and a decision was made to observe winter rules based on the conditions of the new course, DeSoto. The season was established as being March through October and dues were only $10. Tee times were at seven-minute intervals and the motto was BE ON TIME! A dinner dance for members of the Women's and Men's Golf Association took place in December 1973, and continued until the groups outgrew the facilities. It was replaced with a two-day couples golf tournament. In 1974, a Women's Tri-Club Golf Association was formed between Hot Springs Village, Hot Springs Country Club, and Belvedere Golf Club. Teams from each organization competed for a trophy. In 1977, the organization was enlarged to include teams from Diamondhead and the name was changed to SPA. The trophy was dropped and teams vied for prizes instead. As the Village grew so did the Golf Association, including the formation of additional leagues. The WGA 18-Hole league takes pride that our league was one of the Village pioneers, that we have a 52 year history, and approximately 150 women enjoy competitive golf. We pledge to maintain the integrity and values of the original founders of the organization and to provide an atmosphere of fun golf for all members this year as we have done for the past 52 years!
